Bac Lieu Overview:

Bac Lieu is a coastal province of the Mekong Delta in South Viet Nam. Its border is Hau Giang province to the North , Soc Trang Province to the North-East, Kien Giang to the North-west , West and Southwest to Ca Mau and around 56km coast to the East and Southeast. It is around 280 km from Ho Chi Minh City.

This is a young soil area. It was created by the inning of the estuaries. Most of the surface of this province is plain at 1.2m under the sea level. The rest is in higher level with sand or lower and covered by water year around.

There is a system of canals& river branches in this province such as Quan Lo- Phung Hiep, Canh Den, Pho sinh, Gia Rai. Their rivers system connects to the sea via Ganh Hao estuary, Nha Mat and Cai estuaries. It owns quite huge potential about marine products such as fishes and shrimps.

The people in Bac Lieu is famous about their open characters, they like to make more friends as they can.

Bac Lieu nowadays changed its skin by a good infrastructure system and local people’s accommodations.

Bac Lieu possesses no nice beach or the huge mountain or the beautiful landscape as other places but it possesses a huge sanctuary for the birds. Specially, this sanctuary is just around 3km from the center of the town. It covered on 160ha square meter with more than 40 kinds of birds, some of them in the red book.

The main forest in Bac Lieu is mangroves.

Tourist can row the boat through the forests for fishing, catching shrimps, enjoying the fresh air at the calm of this quiet area that is not easy to find in other places.
